In 2020, Gina KanBalam Miranda, the Maya daykeeper I have studied with since 2020, taught me about the Tzolkin, a 260-day divinatory calendar still practiced across Central America and in diaspora. It is based upon the successive ruling of each of 20 universal forces for 13-day periods or trecenas. When set in a grid of four rows of five, the forces relate both horizontally and diagonally. These drawings explores the Maya forces and the interrelations present among them.
