Life or Theatre?

Life or Theatre? takes its name from the epic serial work forged by artist Charlotte Salomon under the horror of World War II. It is an autobiographical work that attempts to traverse the space between an interior life riddled with sexual fantasy and the failure of a love relationship — and recent political events happening on the world stage. In the tradition of Alain Resnais and Marguerite Duras’s 1959 film Hiroshima Mon Amour, it understands both the private and the political as unfolding dramas mediated by observation.
